How to Navigate The Post COVID-19 World of Business

Well, we can now see the light at the end of the tunnel. We think.

So what will this light be like? There is no going back; there is only the new ‘normal’ for business.

It is time to find our way into the new business world as we come out of the last almost two years of craziness, like something out of a real-life science fiction movie.

Many things accelerated rapidly, like digital technology, but there are fundamental values that remain the same. According to Forrester’s, their

 “2022 Predictions include:

  • 10 big mainstream brands will step in where governments fail to act. In 2022, more than 50% of US adults will regularly make purchases from brands that align with their personal values.” 1

People still want to deal with real people. Sometimes. When we were children, catalogue shopping was popular. It was a thrill for a big box to come from the catalogue store. Now it is the same with Amazon. It is fun to see the truck pull up to your door with a delivery box.

E-commerce has captured the hearts and minds of those who do not have the time or inclination to browse throughout stores all day looking at merchandise. The days of shopping all day at the malls, or the concept of ‘ladies who lunch’ seems so archaic now.

In the new business world, we still have a product to sell. We still want to reach out to customers and get their undivided attention. But how?

Well, let’s look at a few ideas. First, being authentic and being the honest real estate agent, the honest accountant, the honest content writer is good. After all the pandemic hype, confusion, etc., we need to keep it simple and true.

A simple, honest message such as I am a retail store who would very much like your business. I will do my best to earn your loyalty. I will work hard to do my best for you.

How does that sound compared to a slick I can give you the lowest price, I can provide you with something that no other retail store can give you, all the grand statements and slick promotions. They take away from the primary message, I would like your business, please, and I will do my best for you.

The whole world has been on information overload for the last year and a half. It is exhausting trying to keep up with the latest, greatest, next best thing. How about a return to simplicity?

  • I have a product.
  • I hope you like it.
  • I will do my best to help you with your business need.
  • I will treat you with respect and honesty.

Businesses of any kind will welcome a return to soothing simplicity after the high-voltage COVD-19 environment.
